The basics:

  • The event will take place Saturday November 18, 2017 in Orange County, CA. The exact address will be sent a few days before the event to registered attendees. The time is 9:30 am - 6:00 pm.
  • The location is a mansion located in the heart of the OC. The mansion features twin staircases in addition to a formal staircase in the main entry. Photographers will have access to three bedrooms. The master bedroom features views of the hills and city skyline. The mansion also has 2 gyms. The first gym has a grungier look and the second gym has modern exercise machines for a lifestyle look. The mansion also has a traditional pool table and bar for a game room feel. Finally, the living room boasts an elegant grand piano for a classy look. Outside you will find the landscaping has palm trees and greenery around the property. There is a putting green for that sexy sporty theme. And lets not forget the swimming pool. The pool has an infinity edge and a great view of the city. Water cascades down from the infinity edge between two fire pits and into the spa. There is a large water fountain in the front of the home that will also make for great photos. You will find plenty of locations both inside and outside.
  • Only registered attendees are allowed to attend. This means no assistants, friends or significant others. If you must bring someone with you, they will also need to pay the entry fee.
  • Attending photographers must have a DSLR, medium format or mirrorless camera. Cell Phones and point and shoot cameras do not count.
  • Introductions, rules and general business will take place from 9:45 am to 10:00 am. Take this time to look around the home and find locations you would like to shoot at. Meet the models and photographers. Be sure to get your gear ready to start shooting.
  • The workshops with PradoFoto and OG Foto will take place from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm alongside the group shoot. We will cover lighting for outdoor and indoor using strobes and natural light. We will cover lighting using strobes and natural light. Two different models will be used. You will have the opportunity to photograph the models at that location with our strobes during the workshop. There is no additional cost to sit in for the workshop. You can choose to participate in the workshop or in the group shoot portion, or both.
  • The group shoot portion will take place from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in concurrence with the lighting workshops. All models will be available during this time except the one model that will be helping with the workshop being given at that time.
  • Lunch will be provided and will take place from 12:00 to 12:45.
  • The 1 on 1 sessions will start at 1:00 pm. The final 1 on 1 session will take place around 5:30 pm. Model 1 on 1 slots are often sold out fast or sometimes even before the event starts. We encourage to set up your 1 on 1’s as soon as you can.
  • Those who attended the morning workshop will have the opportunity to ask OG Foto or PradoFoto for assistance on your 1 on 1’s. OG will be bringing lights that he will let attendees of the morning workshop use. (Based on availability).
  • Sign up sheets for each model will be available at 9:30 am. We will also have a board with locations for the 1 on 1’s. Photographers are expected to move around and not take one spot unless nobody else requests that location. No model wants the exact same shot 9 other models also have. So no camping at the pool all afternoon. Move around and expand your own comfort zone.
  • The early bird sign up cost for the event is $275 before February 7, 2016. After that date, the price will be $325.00.
  • This event is being sponsored by Kandy Magazine. They have graciously agreed to pick one photographer to be published in their magazine. Kandy Magazine will be open to accepting submissions from this event and one lucky photographer will be chosen by the editors for a feature in Kandy Magazine. The submission must come from a 1 on 1 shoot and not from the group portion. The key is exclusivity! You want your submission to stand out and not look like someone elses. Therefore, your submission should be your best 1 on 1 set. The winning photographer and model will be required not to post this set to social media or photos made available to any other publication till after Kandy Magazine has published their winning submission first. Mike has been an official Kandy Magazine staff photographer for over 5 years and will help anyone who has questions as to what the editors are looking for. Our March event Zac Grimaldo was given a feature with Savannah Potocnik.

FAQ:

What is a 1 on 1? A 1 on 1 is a photoshoot with you (The photographer) and a model of your choosing. No other photographers take photos of the model while you are booked with her. These shoots are an additional fee paid directly to the model. The 1 on 1 is 30 minutes long. It is best to talk to the model early and go over location and any outfit you want them to wear. This is the opportunity to get images for the Kandy Magazine contest.

What is a group shoot? A group shoot is when several photographers photograph a model in a particular location. You may be the only photographer or you can have 10 photographers or more shooting the model. This is included in the cost to attend the event. This is a good opportunity to see the model and how well she poses and makes it easier for you to determine if you would like to book her later for a 1 on 1.
